In June 2010 I graduated high school it was a relived that I ended my high school career with A’s. As I graduated high school I wanted to shared this moment with my grandma Modesta Homar she was an amazing grandmother who kept the family together. When I arrive at the nursing home where she was at in her final months she saw me in my cap and gown and saw that I had graduated high school I was the first one from her grandchildren to see me graduated high school my mom took a picture of me and grandma a month later she was on life support and by September 7th 2010 my mom told me she was going to be taken off life support as everyone prepared to say goodbye I knew I had to tell her something I was currently in work program but I wanted to do better and I told her as everyone said goodbye I told goodbye grandma I am going to make you proud by going to college and getting my degree as I said goodbye I left emotionally sad but knowing that she was going to move forward when my grandma died that night I was sad but knowing I had to move forward with my life and fulfill Her legacy and promise that I made to her at the funeral my uncle told me that grandma was proud of me for finishing high school after the funeral I knew I wanted to do better in my life flash forward to 2012 when I got invited by my work program to go to CCSU to audit a class and work at the cafeteria I was happy that I had the opportunity to began the college process and of my work program my vocational counselor told me college wasn’t in my direction and that working in a high school cafeteria will be good for me I turned down the job and decided that college was right for me after writing notes From library Books to taking writing classes and to writing a book I knew I knew I had to fulfill that promise I made ten years ago and that was applying for school at tunxis community college and I knew my goal was make grandma proud and graduate with a degree I knew she is proud of me fulfill that legacy of her’s and I knew how she is proud of me right now I love my grandma and I hope one day I will graduate and make her proud.
